Laboratory Director for Mass Spectrometry

 

Job Description: The Laboratory Director will be responsible for directing and developing analytical chemistry evaluation of pharmaceutical products for multiple research projects and routine testing methods. This upper-level management position will focus specifically on mass spectrometry techniques including LC, GC and ICP-MS, and corresponding sample preparation methods. These responsibilities, as well as management of laboratory budget, personnel, and scholarly communication, will be self-directed and carried out in concert with larger business goals. Therefore, both team-focused collaboration and strong independent leadership are critical for this position. Specific duties and requirements below.

Required Responsibilities:

  • Developing and utilizing common laboratory techniques for processing pharmaceutical samples including validation of procedures and methods
  • Taking responsibility for safe and good laboratory practices
  • Contributing to the Quality Management system and ISO accreditation policies, procedures, development, and audits
  • Purchasing, verifying, and maintaining advanced chemical analysis devices and equipment
  • Organizing data and evaluating standard analysis
  • Hiring, managing, and training laboratory personnel
  • Reporting findings to senior level executives and through publication or other scholarly communication
  • Ability to multitask within a fast-paced and flexible environment

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • PhD in chemistry, pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology or related field
  • Three years or more experience working in an accredited industrial laboratory
  • Three years or more experience managing researchers and research projects

Desired Skills and Attributes

  • Extensive mass spectrometry experience across a variety of instruments and platforms
  • Strong laboratory and analytical skills demonstrated through publication and/or project leadership; experiences with -omic research is a plus
  • Experience working in an accredited testing laboratory

Compensation: Salary commensurate with qualifications, company equity, and health insurance benefits. Full time employment. Employment is contingent on background check and semi-regular drug testing.
