Valisure & DoD Sign Agreement For Testing Drug Quality

First announced by Bloomberg, Valisure has entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with the Department of Defense in order to generate objective drug quality data through independent chemical testing of certain drugs. Drug quality issues are the reason for the majority of drug shortages currently plaguing the nation.

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, and Congressman Neal Dunn, MD (R-FL), former Army surgeon, showed bi-partisan support for the study by offering positive comments for the press release and recently co-leading an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that proposed a system of independent testing for drugs of high quality concern from China.

This study will enable conscientious manufacturers to be able to better compete and allow major purchasers of drugs, like the DoD and Veterans Administration, to reward good manufacturers and exclude substandard medicines from being consumed by the military and veterans, and serve as a model for broader adoption throughout the United States to benefit all American patients.
